Episode 81 In Which We Talk about Festival 2-28-12
Feb 28th, 2012 by quilter
In this episode, I talk about my adventures getting to the Mid-Atlantic Quilt Festival and about the festival itself. I describe the lectures I attended and my purchases, and a visit with rocket scientists at NASA. A little bit of Sandy Update on the quilting front, and some listener feedback. Good times are had by all!

I just listened to your podcast about your trip to Virginia and the quilt show. I am glad you had a great trip and it was fun to listen to your discription of the trip. I had to laugh as a listened about missing your exit, because I have done that so often myself when talking to a passager in the car.
About your paper piecing, if you are having trouble making sure your fabric is going to fit the piece, try turing the foundation back on the stitch line before sewing to make sure that the fabic will completly fills the space. That has helped me when my fabric is close to the size I need and it helps make sure that it is lined up currectly if needed.
Do you have a picture of how you use command hooks to hang quilts on the wall. Do you do anything to hide the dowel? I always use a wooden dowel with eye hooks screwed into the ends, and then I put 2 small nails into the wall. Of course this is a problem if you are renting.
I love the podcast!
Another great podcast Miss Sandy. I do believe road trips gone awry make the best travel stories as long as their was no harm, no foul. That one town sounded movie set creepy, though. I think not taking a class was better than ok because a tour of NASA - pretty, pretty cool.
Hi Sandy,
Thanks for the podcasts and photos and all the other quilty goodness that you posted about the Hampton show. I feel like such a slacker, though, since you and your BFF drove so far to the show and I didn’t feel like making the [relative] sprint from Annapolis MD to Hampton VA. I am slowly catching up on your other shows, but had to skip ahead to the Showcasts. I hope your sabbatical is going well and think that the Theme Days are a nice touch. I had to laugh about the GPS stories. Early in GPS days, I ended up with my sister’s family driving down a dirt track next to a river in Harper’s Ferry since the GPS insisted that this was the best way to downtown. The GPS wanted us to take a left into the Shenadoah River; we declined its kind directions. This is my first post for your podcast; I am not a techno person since I tend to think of the computer as the magic box that helps me work and communicate. BUT…if I ever get inspired to Twitter and Text and so on, I’ll be sure to subscribe to you and the rest of the Hampton Fab 5. All the best.
